Privacy policy
Last updated: October 2026
This policy explains what personal information I collect through this website and in the course of my work, why I collect it and what I do with it. I keep it to the minimum I need.
Who I am
GA Consulting is run by me, Gill Alexander, as a sole trader based in Scotland. I’m the controller of any personal information described here. You can contact me about anything in this policy at hello@gillalexanderconsulting.com.
What I collect
When you email or call me: your name, contact details and whatever you include in your message.
When we work together: your contact details and work email correspondence, plus the business and billing details I need to deliver the work and invoice for it.
When you visit the site: basic, aggregated information about how the site is used, such as pages visited and the type of device, collected through cookies set by the website platform.
Why I use it, and the lawful basis
To reply to your enquiry and talk about working together. This is in my legitimate interests, and in yours, as you’ve asked me to get in touch.
To deliver work for clients and invoice for it. This is necessary for our contract.
To keep business and tax records. This is a legal obligation.
To understand how the site is used and improve it. This relies on your consent to analytics cookies, which you can refuse.
I don’t sell your information, add you to a mailing list without asking or use it for anything other than the reasons above.
Who I share it with
Only the services I need to run the business:
Squarespace, which hosts this website
Google Workspace, which I use for email and file storage
My accountant, for invoicing and tax records
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.
How long I keep it
Enquiries that don’t lead to work: up to two years, then deleted.
Client records and invoices: six years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as required for tax purposes.
Cookies
The site uses essential cookies so it works properly, and analytics cookies only if you agree to them through the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time in the banner or through your browser settings.
Your rights
You can ask me for a copy of the information I hold about you, ask me to correct it or delete it, object to how I use it or ask me to restrict it. Email me and I’ll respond within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. I’d appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Changes
If anything here changes, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
